HELPING CALIFORNIA ADDRESS THE DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL WORKFORCE CRISIS
You are invited to a free, statewide webinar by the Disability Thrive Initiative. Please join us on Wednesday, June 8 at 3:00 PM for Helping California Address the Direct Support Professional Workforce Crisis.
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are the backbone of community services and supports for Californians with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, DSP staffing shortages threaten the independence and well-being of those relying on services. National data shows a turnover rate of more than 45% and more than half of new DSPs leaving their positions within a year. The California Department of Developmental Services launched the DSP Workforce Survey to collect data needed to address this crisis. Learn more in our webinar and the following Lunch and Learn session about:
• The survey process, provider participation incentives, and how to access technical assistance
• A California provider’s experience with the pilot survey and its organizational value
• Lessons learned and advocacy impact of this survey data in another state
