This session will be in a Zoom Meeting format so that the session can be as interactive as possible.

WHAT WE’LL COVER
We are excited to invite Rebekah Wilson back to present our final webinar of 2021! This session is designed to help family members, staff, friends, faith communities, and community agencies better understand the impact of dementia on the person and their family during traditional celebrations, holiday festivities, and family gatherings and special events. The goal of the session is to help everyone enjoy these times with minimized stress and maximized positive and joyful moments. The focus will be on helping everyone involved appreciate the changes that dementia is causing, what the person can still do and enjoy, what will probably be challenging and frustrating or overwhelming and what can be done to control for as many factors as possible to promote better outcomes.

After completing this webinar you will be able to:

• Describe common changes and progression patterns that happen when someone is living with dementia as these features have an impact on holidays, traditional celebrations and gatherings, and visits and interactions.
• Discuss the importance of modifying expectations, behaviors, setting cues, and using feedback and observed responses and reactions on the part of the person living with dementia in order to experience more positive interactions and events
• Compare and contrast changes and modifications that will be beneficial from early to late stages of dementia.
