The Call for Coordinated Dementia Care: Growing Older with Down Syndrome or Other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

Thursday, November 17, 2022
12:00 pm1:30 pm
ZOOM

As recently as 1983, a person with Down syndrome lived to be only 25 years old on average. Today, the average life expectancy of a person with Down syndrome is nearly 60 years – and continuing to climb. Unfortunately, this increase in lifespan has revealed an additional health risk. As individuals with Down syndrome age, they are at a 7 times greater risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease than the general population. In addition, all adults with I/DD are at elevated risk for dementia. Join the Collaborative on November 17, from Noon to 1:30 pm PT, for a presentation and conversation centered on dementia care at the intersection of aging and developmental disability.
