A Vision for a Thriving Direct Support Professional Workforce
Direct support professionals (DSPs) are the staff serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families every day. Nationwide, disability service providers have struggled with the recruitment and retention of this critical workforce. The Department of Developmental Services is investing in multiple approaches to address this issue. The next step is a training stipend opportunity for DSPs to develop skills while improving quality for those served. DDS will share the state’s current vision for disability services workforce stability in this final Disability Thrive Initiative webinar, which will include:
• A detailed overview of the workforce stability investments
• Information on other planned workforce efforts, including a DSP internship program
• Reflections on the Disability Thrive Initiative 2022 Training Series
