WHAT WE’LL COVER
What is the connection between dementia and other mental health issues? This session will explore the relationship between dementia and mental health diagnoses, including similarities, differences, and connections between the conditions. The session will also address verbal and nonverbal techniques and methods to improve interactions with those living with dementia and other mental health challenges.

After completing this webinar, you will be able to:
• List several similarities and differences between dementia and other mental health conditions
• Demonstrate several verbal techniques that may be used to improve interactions with those living with dementia and concurrent mental health challenges
• Describe several nonverbal techniques that may be used to improve interactions with those living with dementia and concurrent mental health challenges

PRESENTER
Melanie Bunn is an RN/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, Positive Approach LLC / Aging Care Coach LLC
Melanie Bunn, a Speaker and Mentor with Teepa’s Snow’s Positive Approach to Care®, received her undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, her Master’s Degree in Family Health Nursing from Clemson University, and a Post-Master’s Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Duke University. She is a skilled and experienced advanced practice nurse and nurse educator, conducting over 200 presentations and trainings annually for health professionals, community organizations, first responders, families, and others. She enjoys improving the lives of people living with dementia, their families, and other care partners.
