The March 2021 California Statewide Self-Advocacy Chat
What/Why: The “California Statewide Self-Advocacy Chats” provide self-advocates throughout California the chance to talk about topics that matter to them. After each meeting, resources and information related to the topics discussed will be shared with participants in a follow-up email. Information and resources shared are intended to help advocates learn about issues and advocate for change in their communities.
When: The third Wednesday of each month.
The March 2021 California Statewide Self-Advocacy Chat will be held on Wednesday, March 17th @ 11:00 A.M.
This month’s topic is Celebrating Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
Some questions to think about for this month’s California Statewide Self-Advocacy Chat:
1. What do you know about developmental disabilities awareness month?
2. Why is it important to raise awareness about developmental disabilities?
3. What is the biggest issue or barrier for people with developmental disabilities in order to be fully included in communities?
4. Do you have a developmental disability hero/mentor that you admire?
5. Share a hope that you have for the future for inclusion in the community of people with developmental disabilities.
This month’s Chat will be facilitated by Riana Hardin, Self-Advocacy Coordinator for the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities.
