Approaching grant writing and what to do once you receive a grant can be an overwhelming process. This two-part webinar will break down these elements and provides the steps to help lead you through the grant process from start to finish.

“Getting the Grant” Our inboxes are bombarded with different funding opportunities and deciding which to go after can be overwhelming. It’s important to evaluate your assets and your needs when deciding which opportunities to pursue. This session will open by covering:

- Different funding types and opportunities
- Considerations for pursuing funding opportunities
- Proposal best practices

“You Got the Grant, Now What? Writing a winning grant proposal in this competitive environment is just the beginning. Before you embark on this journey, be sure you are prepared to deliver all the remarkable elements of your winning proposal, from beginning to end. This part of the session will cover:

- Grant proposal submission and implementation communication
- The 4 W’s, How and Why
- Evaluating ROI for this new or expanded initiative
- Proposing a new or additional service or funding for existing service
- Likelihood of grant renewal and/or sustainability factor
- Deliverables; responsible person assignments and resources

Presenters:
Katie Scott, MPH is the President of CarePartners, a nonprofit organization that provides support, education, resources, and respite to family caregivers and older adults in Houston, Texas. She has worked in health-related nonprofit programs for nearly 15 years and has led multiple grant-funded programs focused on supporting individuals with dementia and their families. Katie has secured over $2 million in federal demonstration grants for the greater Houston area focused on improving the region’s capability to respond to and serve people with dementia and their caregivers. Most recently she led a successful $1.2 million capital campaign to save Texas’s oldest dementia day center from closure. Katie will share her experience in pursuing different funding opportunities, from private to public funders. Katie serves on the Board of the National Adult Day Services Association.

Kathleen Kolenda, M.A., is the Vice President, Adult Day Services for Easterseals Southern California. Kathleen leads Easterseals Adult Day Services in a five-county region of Southern California. Kathleen empowers a team of purpose-driven ADS Directors delivering person-centered services and support to people in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial Counties. Kathleen has written and implemented a wide variety of innovative grant-funded projects throughout her career. Kathleen will share her experiences proposing, implementing, and accomplishing multiple grant-funded projects. Kathleen serves on the California Association for Adult Day Services, CAADS, as a board member, and the National Adult Day Services Association, NADSA, as Board Treasurer.
