Medi-Cal Home and Community-Based Services and CalAIM Updates

Thursday, April 22, 2021

WEBINAR

Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) describe a wide variety of programs that provide long-term services and supports to older adults and people with disabilities enrolled in Medi-Cal to receive care in their homes and communities rather than in institutional settings like nursing homes.

This webinar will provide an overview of financial and functional eligibility for Medi-Cal Home and Community-Based (HCBS) programs, an overview of the type of HCBS waiver and state-based programs available in California, and discuss the gaps in coverage and services that lead to inequities in who has access to services in their homes and communities.
We will conclude the webinar with an update on California’s efforts to update its 1115 waiver and more broadly re-design the Medi-Cal program, an initiative known as CalAIM.
Who should participate:
Aging, disability, and legal advocates, community-based providers, local government partners, and others advocating on behalf of low-income older adults and people with disabilities.

Presenters:
Claire Ramsey, Justice in Aging, cramsey@justiceinaging.org
Elizabeth Zirker, Disability Rights California, Elizabeth.Zirker@disabilityrightsca.org
Micki Nozaki, Senior Medicare Patrol mnozaki@cahealthadvocates.org

NOTE: Capacity for this session is limited to 1,000 participants, and all participants will have the option of accessing audio through the computer or by phone. Closed captioning will be available. Please be sure to log onto the webinar a few minutes early in order to secure your place for the live presentation on Zoom. The presentation will be recorded and available for later viewing.
