 d to be active and do things they enjoy\; however\, it’s not easy for them
  to plan their days and do different tasks. That’s where we come in and ca
 n make a positive impact. As dementia professionals\, we will share with y
 ou the fundamentals of facilitating activities for individuals living with
  dementia to ensure they are able to understand\, accomplish the activity 
 goal\, and enjoy themselves while participating in the activity.\n\nObject
 ives:\n\nAttendees will learn the fundamentals of facilitating activities 
 for people living with dementia.\nAttendees will learn how to modify activ
 ities based on cognitive and physical needs as well as likes and dislikes.
 \nAttendees will learn about activities that should be avoided and why the
 y should be avoided based on the level of difficulty and multiple steps.\n
 Attendees will learn the benefits of sensory stimulation.\nAttendees will 
 learn what tools to use to obtain needed information to best serve their m
 embers living with dementia.\nPresenters:\n\nCorporate Center Director – M
 elanie Miranda-Lusby\, MHA\, CDP\n\nMelanie Miranda-Lusby is the Corporate
  Center Director for Town Square Perry Hall\, an Adult Medical Day Center 
 that was developed as an innovative alternative to standard day options. M
 elanie is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s 
 in Finance and Gerontology and a Master’s in Health Care Administration.  
 Melanie has over 20 years of managerial experience in the financial and he
 althcare industries.  Her passion is driven by her desire to make a differ
 ence in her members’ and caregivers’ lives.  She has a strong knowledge of
  Alzheimer’s and Dementia as well as Gerontology.  As a Gerontologist and 
 Certified Dementia Practitioner\, Melanie takes great pride in knowing tha
 t her Center is one that strives for excellence and quality of care while 
 promoting an engaging and mentally stimulating environment. Her staff woul
 d describe her as “all in”\, Melanie is very involved in the day-to-day pr
 ocesses of running the Center and is always willing to lend a helping hand
  no matter what the job is.  As the wife of a Marine Corps Veteran\, she i
 s involved in multiple non-profit organizations that support our nation’s 
 military.  She is also a board member of the Maryland Association of Adult
  Day Services and a member of the Maryland Senior Resource Network.  Melan
 ie lives by the moto\, one person can make a difference\, and she strives 
 to make a difference in every person’s life that she encounters.\n\nActivi
 ties Manager – Keyonna Jordan\n\nKeyonna Jordan is the Activity Manager fo
 r Town Square Perry Hall\, an Adult Medical Day Center that was developed 
 as an innovative alternative to standard day options. She is a professiona
 l with over 19 years of experience. Keyonna is a graduate of Beaufort Comm
 unity College in Washington\, North Carolina where she received her Activi
 ty Director Certification\, became a member of NCCAP (National Certificati
 on Council for Activity Professional) and successfully completed MEPAP 1&2
  (Modular Education Program for Activity Professionals) in Maryland as wel
 l as ServSafe Food Service Manager Certification.  She has worked in both 
 Adult Day Cares and in Long Term Skilled Nursing facilities. Keyonna is ca
 ring and reliable and is always reminded by her grandmother that she has f
 ound her calling. Keyonna lives by the moto “Activities is more than just 
 Bingo.”
