X-WR-CALDESC:As retirement income is outpaced by rising costs of housing\,
health\, and care\, older and disabled adults are struggling to meet basic
needs. People over 50 now account for half of unhoused adults\, while adu
lts with disabilities continue to be the most likely population to experie
nce homelessness\, be rent burdened or unable to find housing\, and face t
he highest rates of housing discrimination. Earlier this year\, Assemblyme
mber Nazarian introduced AB 2547\, co-sponsored by the State Council on De
velopmental Disabilities (SCDD)\, Justice in Aging\, LeadingAge California
\, Corporation for Supportive Housing\, and United Way of Greater Los Ange
les. AB 2547 proposed to advance the goals of the Master Plan for Aging by
establishing a Rent Stabilization Fund to ensure fair market rent for thi
s vulnerable population. Unfortunately\, despite an enormous advocacy effo
rt\, this bill will not be moving forward as part of the 2022-23 legislati
ve package. Join the Collaborative on September 8th to learn about some of
the challenges and opportunities in preventing older and disabled adult h
omelessness\, as well as next steps for in advancing rent relief strategie
